Oak framed buildings are very robust and extremely hard wearing. There are many buildings that still stand today though having been constructed many centuries ago. We use the same traditional construction methods in all our buildings.

No, all our buildings are entirely handcrafted to meet the specific requirements of the client. We produce bespoke buildings ranging from small traditional porches to large and contemporary games rooms.

Oak is a naturally tough material and therefore does not require treatment, however some clients do request that the oak be oiled, we offer this service and it is carried out during the manufacturing process at our workshop. All external soft wood timbers and joinery benefit from a basecoat timber preservative, but require further treatment immediately after installation.

The main structure is constructed from the best quality green oak. As for the cladding, studwork and rafters these can be constructed from either oak or softwood, depending on the clients specifications.

Green oak is not literally green in colour. The expression refers to the timber being cut fresh from the tree without going through either a kiln or air drying process.

Oak is a natural material and is likely to split or shake during the drying process; it can also shrink and expand due to weather conditions. This does not affect the structural integrity in fact it strengthens and adds character to the building.
