Once the groundwork is completed a team of highly skilled carpenters will erect the oak frame and pitch the rafters, ready to receive the roof tiling and guttering. The specifications for timbers used in the construction process are as follows;

  • The oak frame will be manufactured from the highest quality green oak 150mm x 150mm. The frame is constructed by using traditional jointing methods. We accurately fit and draw bore all of mortise and tennon joints to increase the strength and stability of the frame.
The oak sole plate is constructed using 150mm x 75mm timbers in order to suit studwork, door and window reveals.
  • All timber cladding, rafters and studwork is pressure treated with an aqua vacsol preservative which is a fungicide and insecticide which ensures a natural finish. The Internal studwork is constructed using 100mm x 47mm softwood timbers. We clad the outside of the oak frame by using heavy duty 200mm x 47mm external softwood featheredge cladding. All timbers can be produced in oak at the client’s request.
  • The roofing timbers are constructed using 150mm x 47mm timbers. The ridge timbers are constructed from 200 x 47mm timbers which support your chosen roofing finish. All roofing timbers can be supplied in oak at the client’s request.
